There’s ambience, more guitar oriented tracks, beautiful samples, and more but it’s all about that pastel colored, dogged, resistance to and acceptance of defeat which makes Disco Elysium so, so, so great. I assume that when your character walks in one space the music either stays for the duration of time in that space (and I stooped until you leave) or changes when southing specific triggers a need for the music to shift. As the soundtrack continues it alights on these concepts and then takes off again, approaching this contrast from many angles. I have never played this game so I assume that to be true. Disco Elysium is a game that conjures such an incredibly evocative atmosphere, your mind transcends your native environment (living room, basement, den), swapping it for painterly, pulpy intrigue tantamount to stepping into an alternate universe. Where a film requires specific length of piece and movement to accompany images- the video game offered a more loose opportunity- where establishing mood was less (not?) reliant on time. I read an interesting thing online where the band were talking about scoring for a video game vs a film. Red Rock Riviera because its irreverent noir jazz trumpet fit perfectly over Kim and Harry having their first cigarettes of the. It won the BAFTA for best original soundtrack in 2020.

What I really like is that like the soundtrack for From the Sea to the Land beyond, BSP revisit some themes of recognizable tunes, but don't rely on them. This game has an absolutely phenomenal soundtrack in general but what was your FAVORITE song featured and why Mine is still a toss up between the Night version of Red Rock Riviera and the Church track.
